The 27th Southeast Asian Games will be held in Naypyidaw, with opening ceremony on Wednesday, 11 December 2013. Yangon and Mandalay will host as well some events. The games has already been held in Myanmar in 1961 and 1969, in Rangoon (now called Yangon).
The main venue will be the brand new Zabuthiri Stadium with a capacity of 32 000 spectators.
The Mascot is owls which are considered lucky charms in Myanmar tradition. Male owl is called Shwe Yoe and female owl is called Ma Moe. Both owls are dressed up with beautiful Myanmar national clothes, called Longyis. They have happy and smiling faces and eyes, to represent the joyful and lively part of the sport competition. It’s important to express the warm welcome feeling of Myanmar and Naypyidaw as the host country for the 27 thSEA Games.
